My mice from Primrose Mouse Rescue

I adopted this group of 7 mice on the 25th October 2013.

Mopar Bertie Mouse

Mopar is a neutered gold satin longhair with red eyes and was born in the rescue on the 29th of February 2013.  He is the only mouse with a proper birthday in the group, the rest are unknown ages. Mopar is a greedy little piggy and LOVES eating mealworms. He can usually be found with his nose to the bars begging for a treat.  His best friend is Ascona.

Firenza Violet Mouse

Firenza is a black-eyed dark grey girl, she is quite shy but getting braver.

Nismo Rose Mouse

Nismo is a brown and white pied girl with black eyes. (or for horsey people a "skewbald".  For American horsey people, a "bay tobiano"!) She is also a little shy, but like Firenza, is getting braver.  She is the smallest of the group, absolutely tiny and petite.

Hemi Buttercup Mouse

Hemi is a tan and white girl with red eyes. Her sister is Manta, and like her sister she is a bossy little mouse and can be a bit of a bully to the other mice in the cage.  Fortunately it is mostly scuffles and squeaks with no real harm done.

Manta Clover Mouse

Manta is Hemi's sister, another tan and white with red eyes, and rather bossy to the other mice in the cage. She and Hemi are always up to mischief.

Ascona Heather Mouse

Ascona is a blue satin with red eyes.  Possibly Camaro's daughter, (I think more possibly sister), either way they are almost certainly related, and can be tricky to tell apart.  Ascona is the biggest mouse in the cage however, with an extremely looooong tail.  She is hefty and weighs more than any of my other mice.  She and Camaro tend to get into squabbles with the tan and white girls Hemi and Manta. Ascona's best friend is Mopar and they can often be found together.

Camaro Bluebell Mouse

Camaro is another blue satin with red eyes.  She *may* be Ascona's mother but that is only hearsay, they may be sisters. They can often be found together and can be tricky to tell apart when they are scurrying around, but Camaro is the quieter of the two, and quite dainty compared to big bruiser Ascona.

Other mice

Monaro Mortimer Mouse

Monaro is a black eyed white unneutered buck who I adopted from FarPlace Animal Rescue in September 2012 when he was a year old, he is now over 2 years old which is a good age for a mouse.  He is my first mouse and my little mummy's boy.  He loves attention and demands several cuddles/playtimes a day.  He begs at the bars for treats, and begs to come out of his cage to be with me, and even gives lovely little mousey kisses. He was part of a group of over 300 mice rescued from a snake food breeder whose population got out of hand.  Monaro is far too cute to be a snake snack!

Monza mouse RIP

RIP: Monza Julian Mouse

Monza was a black eyed brown mouse, with a white splodge on his belly and the last millimetre of his tail was also white. He was also adopted from FarPlace Animal Rescue in January 2013.  He was already an old mouse, but had the time of his life with me. He was such a cheerful happy little mouse.  He had a bad mite infestation when he arrived so had bald patches where he had scratched himself raw, and his ears were scratched to ribbons, leaving them crinkly when he healed up.  His fur grew back thick and glossy, although he had suffered from a respiratory infection at some point which left him a little chirpy at times, and was also as deaf as a post, he never let any of this get him down however.  He developed a couple of tumours, neither of which bothered him, but sadly the one behind his eye eventually must have pressed on his brain and caused a stroke or siezure so he had to be put to sleep.

My vet and I had been monitoring his tumours for a while, but as he was still happy and he was too high an operating risk we decided to simply let him live out his days until he let us know that he was no longer happy.  He was fine and bouncing around and then suddenly within the space of an hour went downhill and let me know that he wanted out.  I took him to the vets where he went to sleep curled up in his own travel box so he wasn't manhandled or distressed as they used anaesthetic gas straight into his box so he simply drifted away peacefully. I had him cremated.

He was so full of life and fun, which can be seen if you watch some of his videos on youtube having fun doing mouse agility and jumping little lego showjumps.

The play mat which he is sitting on was made for me by Courtney at http://www.therelaxedrat.co.uk She made it especially for my mice wtih the car fabric.
